Instead of requiring that each bit of new information be added by hand, templates have some text and structure already filled in. <ulink url="http://id3.org/HelpOnTemplates/HelpOnVariables#">Variables</ulink> can be used to insert date, time, creator, pagename, and the like. </para><para>A template page must be named with an ending fitting the standard template name ending (which defaults to some non-blank characters followed by &quot;<emphasis role="strong">Template</emphasis>&quot;). The administrator can change the default template name ending by setting &quot;<code>page_template_regex</code>&quot; in the configuration files. The new template page will be added to the list of template pages displayed when you try to show a non-existent page. For example, <ulink url="http://id3.org/HelpOnTemplates/NonExistentHelpPage#">NonExistentHelpPage</ulink> has a link to <ulink url="http://id3.org/HelpOnTemplates/HelpTemplate#">HelpTemplate</ulink> that loads the content of <ulink url="http://id3.org/HelpOnTemplates/HelpTemplate#">HelpTemplate</ulink> into the editor box, when you click on that link. </para><para>There are other default templates distributed with your MoinMoin instance like a <ulink url="http://id3.org/HelpOnTemplates/HomepageTemplate#">HomepageTemplate</ulink> (for user homepages), a <ulink url="http://id3.org/HelpOnTemplates/CategoryTemplate#">CategoryTemplate</ulink> (for category pages, see <ulink url="http://id3.org/HelpOnTemplates/HelpOnCategories#">HelpOnCategories</ulink>) or a <ulink url="http://id3.org/HelpOnTemplates/SlideTemplate#">SlideTemplate</ulink> (for slides, see <ulink url="http://id3.org/HelpOnTemplates/HelpOnSlideShows#">HelpOnSlideShows</ulink>). </para></section></article>
